Red wine from France, Appellation Gigondas - Vintage 2019
Created in 1960 by Maurice Archimbaud, the Château de Montmirail is today managed by two of his grandchildren Philippe and Sylvie, under the benevolent gaze of their mother Monique Archimbaud - Bouteiller who gives them passed on the torch in 2018.
Our vineyard, located in the two towns of Vacqueyras and Gigondas, is in fact largely the work of Maurice Archimbaud, who patiently established this estate on the basis of the grouping of two properties: a family farm, located in Vacqueyras which he inherited from his father Gabriel Archimbaud on the one hand, and on the other hand the vineyard on Gigondas which he entirely created in the sixties, in almost 20 years, clearing the steep slopes of the Dentelles de Montmirail. This is how our vineyard is composed today: 24ha in Gigondas and 20 ha in Vacqueyras which benefit from a much sought-after climate and an ideal clay-limestone terroir for cultivation of the vine.
TASTING
With a powerful ruby red, this Gigondas gives off intense aromas of red fruits and spices on the nose, as well as hints of liquorice. The 2017 vintage won the Vauclusien Vigneron Savoir-Faire 2019 Trophy!
