Moulis-en-Médoc Protected Designation of Origin red Bordeaux wine, 2013 vintage
Château Chasse Spleen 2016 is a red wine made from 90 hectares of vines located in the Bordeaux region. The name of this wine produced on the Moulis-en-Médoc appellation raises a series of questions for wine lovers. Could Charles Baudelaire be the origin of this name following his visit to Odile Redon, the neighbour of the property who illustrated the poem Spleen? Or is it because of Lord Byron, who said that this wine chases away spleen? In any case, this red wine will certainly not leave you indifferent. The soil is made up of 80% Garonne gravel and 20% clay-limestone gravel, which allows the grape varieties to express their typicality.
The blend highlights three grape varieties: 50% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot. The traditional vinification process involves placing the grapes in temperature-controlled vats with a maceration period of about 3 weeks. Maturing followed in oak barrels for 18 months. This Château Chasse Spleen 2013 presents to the eye a dark but limpid colour with brilliant reflections. On the nose, notes of red fruits, candied cherry and smoky touches are revealed.
The charm and the expression of this wine allow a beautiful tasting. Indeed, in the mouth, cocoa notes are present from the attack with a suave tannin and a well-dosed wood. The finish is lingering and fragrant. To be eaten with red meat or game.
