French red wine - Bordeaux wine - Fifth Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Estèphe, vintage 2016
Château Cos Labory 2016 is a harmonious red wine that is a credit to its estate, which has remained under the aegis of the same family since 1922! Produced from an 18-hectare vineyard, it has been classified 5th Grand Cru since 1855 and is produced in the Saint-Estèphe appellation. On average 35 years old, the vines grow on soil with Günzian gravel raised by a clayey-limestone base. The blend for this 2016 vintage is 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 44% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot. It was aged at Château Cos Labory in oak barrels, 50% of which were new. This Médoc has benefited from the winegrower's respect for the environment, i.e. it has been produced by applying the principles of sustainable agriculture.
This Château Cos Labory 2016 has a very dark garnet red colour. On the nose, it reveals a splendid bouquet combining notes of black fruits (blackberry) and flowers. On the palate, balance dominates thanks to a nice acidity and very fine tannins. The finish is long, harmonious and extremely complex. It is definitely all the typicity of the Médoc terroir that you are about to taste!
