Red wine from Bordeaux A.O.C. Margaux, Grand Cru classified in 1855, Vintage 2017
Château Dauzac is a grand cru classified in 1855 and produced in the Margaux appellation. The 2016 vintage has experienced favourable climatic conditions for the development of a wine that enhances the value of its territory. The summer season was hot but ended with saving rains which allowed the grapes to ripen well. Implanted on 42 hectares, the 35 to 40-year-old vines grew on deep gravelly crests. This Château Dauzac is blended with 71% Cabernet Sauvignon and 29% Merlot. The harvest was carried out over 21 days, which is an historic year (never before had the harvest been so long on the estate). Both varieties of this red wine were aged in French oak barrels, 68% of which were new.
This Château Dauzac 2016 reveals notes of fruit on the nose and combines both richness and precision on the palate. The balance between acidity and alcohol is perfect and the substance on the palate is dense. The tannins are complex and give this Bordeaux wine a good ageing potential (until 2042). Indeed, a stay in the cellar for a few years will allow this Margaux to develop its organoleptic qualities.
