French red wine - Bordeaux region - Saint-Julien appellation - 3rd Grand Cru Classé - 2018 vintage
French red wine - Bordeaux region - Saint-Julien appellation - Second wine of Château Lagrange - Vintage 2017
Les Fiefs de Lagrange 2017 is a Bordeaux wine with the appellation Saint-Julien. Planted on a soil made up of gravel and clay, the vines necessary for the elaboration of this vintage are on average about thirty years old. The typicity of the terroir is revealed thanks to the rigorous work of the winegrower who has managed to combine 3 different grape varieties: Merlot (50%), Cabernet Sauvignon (47%) and Petit Verdot (3%). That year, the vineyard also suffered from unfavourable weather conditions: frost came in the spring. An extraordinary effort was made to select the vines, which can be felt in the full-bodied personality of this second wine.
Les Fiefs de Lagrange 2017 benefits from the Saint-Julien controlled appellation of origin , an additional guarantee of quality. Deliciously refined, this French red wine has good ageing potential (until 2030). It can also be enjoyed immediately with red or white meats.
To the eye, this wine has a brilliant red colour. Greedy notes of chocolate and black fruits but also floral touches intermingle when aired. On the palate, Les Fiefs de Lagrange 2017 offers energy while revealing a supple tannic structure.
