Red wine of France, Appellation Saint-Estèphe, vintage 2016
French red wine - Bordeaux wine - Saint-Estèphe appellation, 2016 vintage
Château Phélan Ségur 2016 is a structured and harmonious red wine produced in the Saint-Estèphe appellation. The 70-hectare vineyard sees its vines of about thirty years old grow on a soil composed of crests of Garonne gravel, pebbles and clayey gravel. The estate's reputation is built on the elegance, finesse and purity of the fruit found in its wines. This year the climate was favourable to the good ripening of the berries and allowed the harvest to be carried out serenely and on time (between the end of September and the end of October). This 2016 vintage is made up of 2 famous grape varieties in the Médoc: Cabernet Sauvignon (55%) and Merlot (45%).
Château Phélan Ségur 2016 is built on a dense tannic structure. Its robe is a pretty deep red with purplish tints. On the nose, you will find all its aromatic complexity thanks to aromas of blackberries, cherries and fleshy strawberries. In the background, toasted and liquorice touches are subtly revealed. The tasting is harmonious with a suave and consistent attack. The finish is powerful, fresh and long. In short, this Château Phelan Ségur is an excellent vintage!
