French red wine - Bordeaux wine - Exceptional cru bourgeois - Saint-Estèphe, vintage 2016
French red wine - Bordeaux wine - Saint-Estèphe appellation, 2015 vintage
Château Phélan Ségur 2015 is a red wine designated as an exceptional cru bourgeois. It comes from the estate of the same name which belonged to famous personalities on the Saint-Estèphe terroir: Bernard Phélan or Xavier Gardinier among others. Planted on 70 hectares of clayey gravel, the vines have developed and acquired a maturity that promises a good Medoc. 2015 vintage has 4 different varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. It benefits from the Saint-Estèphe appellation and is characterized by its elegant robustness. Château Phélan Ségur 2015 has a beautiful intense colour blending ruby red with purplish tints. On the nose, the structure is fruity, with cherry, strawberry and raspberry. To this are added toasted touches and notes of tobacco. When aired, it is mint and liquorice that captivate you with their freshness. On the palate, we confirm the fruity, fresh and elegant structure with liquorice notes and spicy and woody touches.
This gastronomic red wine is rich in finesse and is best served at 17°C for a better tasting. It will go well with a good roast surrounded by flageolets or a leg of lamb, for example.
