French red wine - Bordeaux region - Saint-Julien appellation - 3rd Grand Cru Classé - 2010 vintage
French red wine - Bordeaux region - Saint-Julien appellation - Second wine of Château Lagrange - Vintage 2013
Les Fiefs de Lagrange 2013 is a red wine from Bordeaux benefiting from the Saint-Julien appellation. Produced on the property known as Château Lagrange, this second wine is made from vines that are 30 years old on average. Exceptionally hot and dry conditions in spring and during the summer season initially led to fears of a delay in flowering. However, a favourable climatic window allowed a maturation within the usual averages. The harvest was carried out in stages: the Merlot was harvested from 3rd October, the Cabernet Sauvignon from 17th October and the Petit Verdot from 24th October. A total of 21 days were needed to harvest the grapes. The blend of this Bordeaux wine concentrates 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 41% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot.
To the eye, Les Fiefs de Lagrange 2016 reveals a dark colour with purple reflections. A true pleasure wine, it will reveal greedy notes of black cherry, liquorice and blackcurrant cream on the nose. On the palate, the attack brings freshness and a certain liveliness that should please epicureans. This 2016 vintage is a well-balanced wine with good ageing potential.
