French red wine - Bordeaux region - Saint-Julien appellation - Second Wine from Château Léoville-Las-Cases - Vintage 2015
Clos du Marquis 2015, the second wine of Château Léoville-Las-Cases, is a red wine whose history goes back to the 1900s. It is one of the wines of the Médoc coming from terroirs with the Saint-Julien appellation, which were not originally part of the Domaine de Léoville. It expresses all the typicity and richness of these territories surrounded by prestigious Second Growths, combining complexity, balance, harmony and excellent ageing potential.
This Clos du Marquis was born of favourable climatic conditions: sunny and warm weather from April onwards enabled it to flower and ripen quickly. A climatic window favourable to the harvest at the end of September and the beginning of October concluded the work on this vintage. The grapes were able to develop a beautiful aromatic freshness as well as a good concentration.
This red wine of the 2015 vintage contains 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc. Its majestic dark colour will intrigue you until the tasting. On the nose, the aromatic expression is centered on notes of red fruits as well as woody and spicy touches. The attack on the palate is lively and elegant, carried by spirited tannins. Clos du Marquis is a beautifully pure Bordeaux wine, with a complete profile that will delight both amateurs and those who are used to exercise.
